What is Wanderdeck?

Wanderdeck is a hiking card deck featuring curated trails and hidden gems in local regions across Australia (currently Brisbane & surrounds (including Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Scenic Rim, Northern NSW). Each card includes everything you need to explore including QR Code with step-by-step directions, key information and trail map links. Designed to remove decision fatigue, Wanderdeck turns hiking into a fun, gamified experience where you can track your progress and earn rewards along the way.

Which regions do you cover?

Our initial release, Wanderdeck Brisbane & Surrounds, focuses on Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Scenic Rim, and Northern NSW. Future editions will cover other areas around Australia.

Question 3

Do I need a car to get to these hikes?

Accepted Answer

Yes, to access most of the hikes, you will need access to a vehicle. Most hikes are accessible with a 2WD vehicle, although a few require a 4WD vehicle for access.

Is there a deck with harder hikes?

Yes – We’re currently developing the "Wilds" Expansion packs which will have harder waterfall & mountain hikes near Brisbane

What are the hike times on the cards based on?

Accepted Answer

Hike times are based on average walking speeds and are usually estimated on the longer side to give you a comfortable buffer. Please note that hike times and distances on the cards may differ slightly from what you see on the live trail map, as conditions and updates can change over time.

What are the hike risk levels based on?

Accepted Answer

Risk levels are designed to give you a quick sense of what to expect on the trail. They take into account factors such as:

Cliff edges and steep drop-offs
Navigation difficulty (how easy or hard it is to follow the trail)
Trail hazards like slippery rocks, water crossings, or loose ground
Remoteness: The more remote a hike is the riskier it is as there is often no reception and emergency services will take longer to get to your location.

These ratings are a guide only. Always consider your own experience, fitness level, and the conditions on the day before heading out.

What is the difficulty of the hikes?

The Brisbane & Surrounds Wanderdeck includes a mix of easy and moderate hikes. “Easy” refers to the hike’s difficulty within hiking as an activity and does not mean the trail will feel easy for everyone. A reasonable level of fitness, mobility and confidence walking on uneven outdoor terrain is still required. Trail conditions, elevation, weather and individual ability can all affect how difficult a hike feels.

How do the live maps work?

Each Wanderdeck card has a QR code on the back. When you scan it, you’ll be taken to the hike’s page on our website, where you’ll find a link to a live trail map through the AllTrails app.

AllTrails is free to download, and the free version lets you access trail maps for planning and on-trail navigation when you have cell signal. If you’d like to download maps for offline use (without signal), you’ll need AllTrails Plus, which is available for a small subscription fee through AllTrails.
On each hike page, we’ll let you know if live map navigation is recommended, so you can plan ahead with confidence.

Question 9

When do I recieve milestones rewards?

You’ll receive special gifts in the mail when you complete certain amounts of hikes. Example: when you have completed your first hike, first 10 hikes, when you are halfway there etc. When you reach these milestones, you’ll get an email notification prompting you to provide your delivery details so your gift can be sent to you. Remember, you will have to log your hikes to receive the gifts.

Question 10

What milestone rewards will I receive?

Accepted Answer

You’ll receive special envelopes in the mail with small gifts- these may include things like photography prints, stickers, plantable seed paper or a bonus hiking card etc.

To receive milestone rewards, make sure you’re signed into your Wanderdeck account and log each hike by selecting “Complete Hike” after scanning the QR code on the back of the card. When you reach a milestone, we’ll send you an email to confirm your details before posting your reward.

What is your return policy?

If your order arrives damaged or contains a manufacturing defect, we’re happy to offer a replacement or refund - subject to approval.
To request a refund or replacement: Contact us within 5 days of receiving your order.
Email us at: info@wanderdeck.com.au with your order number, a description of the issue, and clear photos of the damage or fault. If approved, we’ll issue a replacement (if available) or a full refund.

Are any of the hikes dog-friendly?

A small number of hikes in the Brisbane & Surrounds Wanderdeck are dog-friendly as well as the up and coming Sydney & Surrounds. These are clearly identified on the individual hike pages. Dedicated dog-friendly expansion packs are also planned for release in the future.
